Within the celebration of 860th anniversary of Moscow, city bosses decided to re-applied an old Soviet slogan: 'Soviet people read the most'. On Sretensky boulevard there is an exhibition: "Russia reads the most. Moscow is the capital of those who read". This is the official poster to promote reading habits of children.

The books on the poster are following:

Leo Tolstoy "War and Peace"
Leo Tolstoy "Anna Karenina"
Ilja Ilf and Eugene Petrov "12 Chairs"
Alexander Ostrovskiy "Thunder"
Andrey Platonov "The Trench"

As you can see these are all Russian authors. Actually these books are the part of obligatory school education of Russian children.

September the 1 is the Day of Moscow. This year we will celebrate 860th anniversary.

It is a big thing for both the city administration and people living in Moscow. The city bosses try to do the make ups on all the downsides of the city: to repair the roads; to open new schools and hospitals; to organize big festivals.

By now everyone in the city is aware of the fest, as the posters announcing different festival activities are glued to virtually every door in the city.

In addition September,1st is an official start of school all over Russia. It is so-called "The Day of Knowledge". Usually students do not have normal classes that day, only introductory activities to prepare for the year ahead. It is the big thing for those who go to school for the first time. Traditionally parents take a day-off to bring their off-springs to school and teachers receive flowers from the students.
