Moscow Metro is the deepest underground in the world

Today I start a new set of information from Moscow and about Moscow. I prepared a very interesting subject - Moscow Metro.

Moscow Metro did not make into the shortlist of the new World Wonders, but it is a really impressive and intimidating construction. Launched in 1937 it combines both Russian traditional and Soviet social-realism designs. Underground castles' this is how foreign journalists labeled the Metro when it was newly opened. However, during the rush hour Moscow people hardly notice the beauty of Metro. 1-2 hours in a stuffed wagon will hardly leave much room for art contemplations.

The deepest station is Park Pobedy' built in 2003. It goes for about 90m under the surface of the earth. The reason for hiding Metro that deep into the earth is in the geo conditions of Moscow area. Sort of impressive and very useful during air raid - a perfect bunker.
